Watch: Former NFL player Jerome Harrison, healthy after brain tumor, shares message of hope

eagles_110Jerome Harrison has a message for his followers.

Fister (1-7) allowed six hits and five runs in five innings, remaining winless in 10 starts since beating the Astros in his Texas debut on the second day of the season.

Marwin Gonzalez had a tying RBI double in the second before the speedy Tony Kemp’s infield single put the Astros in front for good. Springer followed with a liner into the corner in left field.

Choo, who extended his majors-leading streak of reaching base to 24 games, also had a walk and a bunt single.

McCain, who played collegiately at Memphis, was selected by the Dolphins in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft. He has registered 111 total tackles, two sacks and three interceptions in his three-year career.

The Dolphins missed the playoffs last season after finishing with a 6-10 record.

The Dodgers have shuttled pitchers both because of injury-related necessity and because the past few years they’ve in general been extremely flexible with the constitution of their roster. Last season, the Dodgers led the majors by total number of in-season transactions. This year, they are second, behind the Mets.

The other team in last year’s World Series, the champion Astros, have had a quiet transaction wire since winning their first title. Houston easily had the fewest players in its spring training camp, with very few non-roster invitees, and hasn’t seen any more turnover now that the season is underway. Houston’s only two pitcher-related options both involved sending out James Hoyt. Overall, the Astros have appeared on the transaction wire since Opening Day just 27 times. The Mets, who we mentioned have made the most moves, have appeared 118 times.

Falcons’ Matt Ryan becomes first NFL quarterback to get deal with $100 million guarantee

You knew it was bound to happen, it was just a question of when.

Now, with free agency and the draft out of the way, the Atlanta Falcons have taken care of their guy.

Quarterback Matt Ryan on Thursday agreed to a five-year contract extension that includes an average annual salary of $30 million, and $100 million in guaranteed money, according to a person with knowledge of the negotiations. The person requested anonymity because the figures were not publicly announced.

Ryan becomes the first quarterback to land a contract of $100 million guaranteed. And, he sets the annual compensation bar at $30 million.

This extension was our primary focus this offseason, said General Manager Thomas Dimitroff in a statement. Matt has been a pillar of stability for this franchise for a decade, and it is a great feeling knowing that he will remain at our helm for six more years. Matt has proven to be a leader for this franchise on and off the field, and we are fortunate to have him as our quarterback. Matt has guided us to a decade of success that is unmatched in franchise history, but we all know there is more to be accomplished, and we are confident we can get that done with Matt.

First couple games didn’t have my legs maybe the way I’m used to, he said. It was just fun being out there. It was almost good to get out there in the playoffs, because there’s not a lot of thinking to be done. You just go out and play. I missed it a lot and just being a part of the whole things and being with the team and going through the ups and downs, it’s something i missed throughout the whole year.

After his first concussion cost him exactly one month of games, the second seemed never ending for the 27-year-old. Despite the two concussions, plus one he suffered with the Capitals a few years ago, he doesn’t have any reservations about being back on the ice.

You kind of wonder how long it’s going to be and what’s going to happen, but once you’re fine, you kind of let that go, Johansson said. You just want to go out and play again. I’m really happy that I got to that point. It took a little longer than I wanted it to, but that’s the case with head injuries, too.

“With the NFL, CFL, football in general that’s where I shine best — my explosiveness and my quickness getting out of the hole, out of my stance — and I think given a season under my belt with training, proper technique and coaching it can only get better from there.”nike_jets_1627

Panthers to pick up option on Shaq Thompson

The Panthers drafted Shaq Thompson as an eventual replacement for Thomas Davis, so they figured they might as well keep Thompson around after Davis is gone.

According to Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer, the Panthers plan to pick up the fifth-year option on Thompson’s rookie deal for 2019.

Smith, a South Dakota State product, signed as an undrafted rookie with the Eagles in 2016 and played 10 games. In 2017, he was cut by the Eagles and picked up by the Browns for their practice squad. He was later called up to the active roster and played three games for the Browns.

The version is flat, -free brown. That phone call come from Canton, Ohio, while Flores is breathing, Hayes says.I thought the one that Julian made late the game was really critical. However, he did not play at all the third. He’s still outstanding catching the ball and securing the ball, but his role is still yet to be defined, as you all know. What about the ton of unnecessary roughness penalties that happen every single week?

The Panthers also held the Falcons below 100 rushing yards. still swinging the bat very well.CUETO UPDATE: The Giants had hoped to have Cueto camp this weekend, but he remains Boca Chica, Dominican Republic. Can’t blame him.

The 27-year-old Bethel made three Pro Bowls as a special teamer in Arizona, and joins a secondary covered for starters.

He’s a solid signing for a Falcons team that has been selective in free agency, signing guard Brandon Fusco and tight end Logan Paulsen and some of their own, since they lack salary cap room until they finish quarterback Matt Ryan‘s extension.

Bethel was one of the few remaining players in the PFT Top 100 Free Agent list, with just 13 of them still on the market now.

Tony Romo appears better at his day job. So to speak.

Romo got rave reviews for his first year working as an NFL analyst on CBS. His golf game, though, got panned Thursday.

The former Cowboys quarterback shot a 5-over 77, tying for 128th as of now and ahead of only three players, in the PGA Tour’s Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship. Romo received a sponsor exemption into the tournament.

Giants star S Landon Collins to have second surgery on forearm

Giants Pro Bowl safety Landon Collins is facing a second surgery on the broken right forearm he sustained in late December and likely will be sidelined until training camp, he confirmed to on Wednesday night.

A second surgery, first reported by NFL Network, is necessary because the injury, suffered while making a tackle in Week 16, isn’t healing as quickly as the Giants medical staff hoped.

Giants S Landon Collins’ arm isn’t healing as quickly as docs would hope and might soon undergo surgery to plate the break again, sources say. Timeline for a recovery would be about six to eight weeks to return to full football activity. So he’d miss the spring, be back for camp.

Because this is unpredictable, never-desperate New England, it could blow up that plan and go defense back-to-back with its two first-rounders.

At linebacker, based on where the Pats are picking, Boise State’s Leighton Vander Esch and Alabama’s Rashaan Evans will present appeal. At cornerback, based on another Belichick college connection, Iowa’s Josh Jackson will get consideration should he remain available, with UCF’s Mike Hughes as another reasonable option.

Mill, whose real name is Robert Rihmeek Williams, was sentenced to prison between two and four years in November 2017 for violating his parole, a sentence many said was too harsh.

Judge Genece Brinkley, who has overseen the case, has been accused of being “vindictive and erroneous” in her strict sentencing.

“This guy’s a great guy. (He) shouldn’t be here,” Kraft said.

Mill was arrested in 2007 on drug and weapon violations. He was released from prison in 2009 after serving six months, but was arrested while on parole for failing a drug test, leaving the region without permission, fighting with someone at the St. Louis airport and illegally operating an ATV in New York City.
